My Creative Space: A nearly finished bag!

The really handy thing about not having any internet connection yesterday, was that I made significant progress with my Marina Bag .. and I think it even looks like the picture on the pattern which is always a good sign!

Just a few more rows left to complete, but I thought I'd better post this now just in case I don't have a connection again when I've finished!!

This really is a tiny bag - it's as tall as the width of an A4 sheet of paper and not as wide!!

I'm debating whether to add a lining and/or a wee crochet flower in a contrasting colour to finish it off.  What do you think?

  1. Personally I would just let it be as it's georgeous and quite retro without being fussy. I think if you added another colour or flower it may turn more into a child's bag. Ultimately do what ever you would like to do, your choice really.

  2. That's such a cute bag pattern! Personally, I always line my crochet bags, partly because I think it spreads the load and stops the stretch getting too bad, and partly because I worry about things catching on the stitches inside and the whole thing unravelling.

A flower would look lovely, especially in something just as bright.

  3. OO your bag looks so cute!I also like to line my bags as I always fear small things falling out.

  4. Wow! That's such a pretty bag. I love it as it is.

  5. Love the bag, and the color. It looks so summery. I would definitely add a lining. When I have made bags in the past without linings, they stretch out really bad. Hmm, maybe I put too much stuff in my bags!

The flower... it'd be cute. But I like the bag either way.

  6. I agree with Bee Lady, I would add the lining for practical reasons. Also, it would look more precious. It is such a pretty pattern, and the color!

Thank you for visiting, you were much quicker than me!

  7. Fiona, that's lovely just as it is. I lining would probably be really practical but I'd be inclined to use it straight away. It's not very big, so you won't be able to overfill it, so hopefully won't stretch out of shape with the weight. Mind you, I have no patience and always want to use new things straight away.. sometimes I wish I had taken a bit more time to finish them off better.

  8. Hello Fiona! Enjoy your crochet while you are waiting your sewing machine! This bag is beautiful and I'm sure you use it a lot in summer! I think lining would be could. Some flowers sounds also great! I would make flowers with different blue colours, to add 'personal touch'. xxx Teje

  9. LOVE the bag! I think it would look great with a flower. Also, thanks for letting me know you found me from my Stitch-of-the-Week. I like the feedback and I'm glad it was helpful.

  10. ooo your bag is gorgeous!!! I really like the colour too.

I think your idea of a little flower is great; perhaps a little lace ribbon one.
