My Creative Space

Started work on another purse pattern - not tried sew-on frames before, but they've got to be easier than glue (she says hopefully!).  I've had this pattern for a few weeks and have been itching to get the sewing machine set up to try it out.

But I was nearly completely distracted by the arrival of Nikki's book in the post.  The problem was identifying just one pattern to try first!  I've cut out one of the paper patterns ... just waiting to finish the other purse first and for my sewing shears to be returned (they're being sharpened - probably a bad move given how accident prone I am!!).

For more creative spaces, take a look at Kirsty's blog.

  1. Inspiration is a wonderful thing. I'm thinking of getting Nikki's book as a 'how to' for starters like myself. Do you think it would work for me? x

  4. I can definitely recommend Nikki's book - the first section is all about tips and tricks to make sewing easier and the project section has a wide range of accessories and clothes to try your hand at. Each project indicates the level of sewing ability needed and which of the tips / tricks are relevant. Patterns are included for most of the accessories and the clothing is pattern-less (slightly scary concept but I will get to grips with it!).

  7. Glad to hear you are getting into your sewing again. I'm sorely tempted by Nikki's new book and have a link sitting in my in box all ready to click and place my order. I really need to get my sewing machine serviced though and can't find anyone locally to do it.Do you think buying a new machine would be overly indulgent...

  10. And another one that I was waiting to publish when Blogger came back up ... but it also appears to have been deleted:
