Gluten-free Muffins

iPhone photo

Not much crafting happened in June for various reasons - I still need to hem that skirt and I have a block for my afghan half-crocheted!

But this is the second time I've made this recipe. If you need an easy gluten-free treat, then this might be the one.  These toffee chocolate fudge brownie muffins (can't go wrong with a name like that, can you?) appear in a cookbook I have, but Phil Vickery also posted the recipe online.

Highly recommended! And, if you're strong-willed, they're better after a few days!

Postcard from Switzerland

We spent last weekend in Switzerland.  Andy is there quite a lot on business as his company is based there, but it was my first visit since we moved back to Europe last year.

We visited the Maison Cailler chocolate museum / factory at Broc ...

And Gruyère ....

... a picture postcard little town.

We walked round the Schwarzer See near Fribourg listening to the cow bells in the distance!

This dragon was hanging about on one of the rocks!  There was a 'Witches Trail' for kids and I guess this was part of that.

And this little cutie posed for photos while his mates were greedily munching handfuls of grass.

A lovely weekend with fantastic company and food, great views and rather changeable weather (it rained a lot!).

Skirting around Indecision

I bought the fabric last June when I went to the Cotton Patch in Birmingham with Ady - lovely fabric from Sevenberry in a heavy cotton.  I've been meaning to make it into a skirt, but somehow never got round to it.

When Cam announced her "Make It in May Sew-Along" I decided this was the push I needed to finally make a skirt, so I signed up and hoped I find some inspiration and time ...  I failed on both counts!

Anyway, this weekend I finally made a decision and, before I could change my mind again, ran up the skirt above.  It's a modified version of Nikki's A-line skirt pattern ... modified to make it straighter (last weekend as part of my indecisiveness I altered the A-line skirt I made last summer - but never wore - to make it less A-line and this seemed to work better for me!) and I've added a lining so that I can hopefully wear it for more of the year.

I still need to hem it, but thought I'd get in a photo before the light goes completely (it's a very gloomy, wet day here!) and my photographer disappears off on a business trip for the week!  I think it looks smart enough for work (maybe after I iron it!!) but could work as a casual skirt too.

Mmm ... Cake!

Gluten-free carrot cake... today's offering

And gluten-free scones ... yesterday's teatime treat snapped on my mobile quickly before they all disappeared!

Anyone would think I'm trying to bake every recipe from 'Seriously Good! Gluten-free Baking!', but I promise it's not planned.

Every recipe has worked so far ... every single one:

.... scones, carrot cake, fruit cake, pastry, apple cake, yorkshire puds, coffee cupcakes ... I've made quite a few so far!

And every single one has been delicious - not in the least like they're gluten-free. It's nothing short of miraculous!!

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the kitchen baking!
